' thoughts "My Sweet Angel " Chapter 3 I dont fucking care! Duo screamed. Take them the fuck off! They had managed to make it most of the way through their meal before the drugs in the braided teens system cleared enough for him to start thinking clearly again. And unfortunately for the OZ general, the first things he noticed were the gold bracelets circling his wrists. Second were the anklets and finally the collar. That was when all hell broke loose. Now, Treize. the teen demanded, holding out his arms to give the man a good look at the gold circlets. Angel, please-- Dont Angel me, Treize. Duo glared as he took a menacing step forward. Fine, Duo, listen to me. the man tried again, holding his hands up in a placating manner. I cant remove them. Snorting in disbelieve, Duo crossed his arm over his chest, before sneering, For some reason I doubt that. I cant remove them without someone becoming suspicious. Treize clarified. Suspicious of what? Suspicious of what you really mean to me. the man admitted with a tired sigh even as he threw his hands out in exasperation. Suspicious of what we have together. Turning with a deep growl, Duo grabbed the first thing that came to hand, which turned out to be the tray that contained the remainder of his breakfast, and hurled it across the room where it slammed into the wall, splattering food in its wake. Anger and hurt both warred in his mind; anger at the fact that he had managed to end up in the situation, and hurt because of what he perceived as Treizes refusal to help him. Duo-- You know what? the violet-eyed teen stated, throwing the man one last menacing glare, before turned toward the door. Fuck this. Moving forward as his face twisted in fear, Treize tried desperately to think of something to calm the young man down, knowing as he did that Duos temper could get the best of him at times. Angel, please. Were at the mountain base, you cant just leave here. Watch me. the teen threw over his shoulder as he whipped the door open before rushing forward. He did not even know what hit him as he only made it a step or two before the collar kicked in, dropping him to the floor in an instant. Duo! Treize exclaimed, rushing through the door after the boy. What he saw made his heart twist painfully in his chest. Duo lay convulsing on the floor of the base hallway, several people in the passageway at the time had stopped to stare at the scene, and before he could even think of the consequences, the ginger-haired man rushed over to his lover, scooped him up into his arms, and quickly carried him back to his chambers. As soon as they were once again inside the room, Duos body instantly slumped, the collar shutting off, but Treize did not stop, moving through the outer room and into the bedchamber, where he gently placed the teens small body on the bed. Sitting down beside him, he gently brushed Duos long bangs back out of his eyes, shocked to find tears gathering there. Angel. he breathed, but the teen turned his head away before rolling to the side and pulling his knees up to his chest in a fetal position, his small shoulders shaking with the force of his sobs. When Treize tried to touch him, just to rest his hand on the longhaired pilots shoulder, Duo jerked away, and the man knew he was not wanted. He could only hope that, given a little bit of time, Duo would come to understand and forgive him. Until then, he stood from the bed and retreated to the antechamber. At seeing the mess the tray had left behind, he heaved a heavy sigh before walking over to see about cleaning it up. ************************* It did not take long for the little incident in the Generals chambers to make the rounds of the base. Within a few hours, everyone was talking about the fiery little bedmate the man had acquired and many wondered if the man would be able to tame him before either one or the other was killed in the process. Captain Taylor was one of the first people to be notified of the situation, since he had left specific order to that effect with most of the base personnel. He had taken it upon himself to make sure that his Excellency was well taken care of during his visit to the base and he would be damned if some child ruined it. So, walking briskly through the corridors of the base, he checked once again that the vial was in his pocket even as he approached the kitchens. Once there, he sought out the head chef, pulling her away from the preparations for the days lunch and leading her to her small office in the back so they could talk privately. Whats this about Captain? she asked once the door was closed behind them. There are over two thousand mouths that I have to feed in a little over an hour. Reaching back into his pocket, Taylor pulled out the vial of amber liquid and handed it to the woman. From now on, I want you to put a little of this in every meal prepared for his Excellencys little pet. the man directed. What is it? she questioned, the apprehension clear in her voice. I know hes one of those Gundam pilots, but I wont harm a child. Dont worry, it wont hurt him. Taylor smiled comfortingly. Its just a mild sedative that will keep him from pulling any more stunts like he did this morning. Does his Excellency know about this? No, he doesnt. the man stated, his eye narrowing. And hes not to know about it. He has much more important things to worry about than dealing with the boys rebellion. Im sure hell learn his place in time and besides, the General is only staying with us for a month. At the end of that time, that little pilot will become our responsibility. I want him docile and obedient until then, got it? And after that, it really wont matter. Swallowing sharply at what the mans words implied, the chef looked down at the vial in her hands and while she still did not like the idea of doing this behind the Generals back, she also knew that if she did not, Taylor would find another way. Alright. she stated with a nod of her head. Ill put it in his juice; its the only thing thatll hide the taste. Good. Taylor smiled. And I meant every meal. Yes, sir. ************************* Sitting at his desk located on the far side of his chambers outer room, the same room he and Duo had had breakfast that morning, Treize did his best to concentrate on the reports that were stacked up in front of him. Mission briefings, proposed attack plans, mobile suit design changes; the list went on and on, and while under normal circumstances the very idea of going through them all would have made him long for a simpler job, the very fact that Duo was in the next room, made it all the more harder. He wanted nothing more than to walk in there, climb onto the bed, and pull the teen into his arms, soothing away the hurt and fear he knew was coursing through him. But it was also something he knew he absolutely could not do, not unless Duo asked him first. With yet another deep sigh, he picked up the top paper once again and tried for the hundredth time to concentrate enough to actually read what was on the paper. So, Duo's voice, sounding small and so very fragile, sounded through the room, causing him to jump in his seat. Im your toy? Treize was instantly on his feet and moving toward the teen before he even noticed the piece of paper dangling from the boys right hand. It did not take him but a moment to recognize the note that Taylor had left on his night table, along with the remote to the violet-eyed teens binding, and he wanted to kick himself for not destroying it the day before. What was done was done though and his only thought was to try and comfort his little lover after everything he had gone through. But as he drew close to the teen, Duos arms, which had been hanging loose at his side, came up and wrapped around himself in a definitely sign of defensiveness, bringing the man to a halt only a few steps away. Angel-- Thats what they brought me here for. the chestnut-haired teen continued. At this point, he still had not looked up from where he had been staring at the floor, but with that said, his eyes rose and the redness of them, made Treize want to cry. Thats what you brought me here for? Oh god. Treize breathed, staggering backwards a step as if Duo had physically hit him. God no, Duo, I would never . I could never . Shaking his head violently as that phrase kept ringing between his ears, Treize took the risk of closing the distance between them and pulling the teen into his arms. Duo only resisted for a moment before his own arms wound themselves around the mans waist and he allowed himself to melt into Treizes embrace. How could you think that of me? Treize breathed as he buried his nose in the top of Duos head. How could you think I would ever think of you like that? I dont know what to think anymore, Treize. Duo admitted with a catch in his voice. I just my mind is so fuzzy and confused. I dont . Trailing off, Duo tried unsuccessfully to burrow even closer to the warmth that Treize provided, warmth that the man was all too happy to give. Treize though, could not get the teens words out of his head and he had to wonder if the drug the boy had been given was not still circulating in his blood, causing those feelings. Deciding to give it at least one more day to clear, he carefully maneuvered then until they reached the small sitting area located near his desk. There were two armchairs and a sofa clustered around a coffee table, which could be used for informal meeting if need be. Moving them to the sofa, he sat down, pulling the teen to sit at his side. Duo, I would never treat you like that. he stated as he gently rocked the teen, his hand running almost constantly up and down Duos back. You are, by far, the most precious thing in my life. Pulling back enough that he could look up into his lovers blue eyes, Duo could see the truth reflected in them. I know. he smiled softly before turning his gaze down even as he lifted his right hand and the note it still held. But why would they ? Treize did not even wait for the teen to finish his thoughts as he plucked the paper from Duos hands and ripped it in two, tossing the remains toward the coffee table to be cleaned up later. I dont know, Angel. he stated as he once again wrapped the teen up close in his arms. I only told them to bring you here because I just couldnt stand the thought of someone hurting you; of someone else touching you. Treize could not stop the shiver that ran through his body as he remembered the fear that gripped him when he first heard of Duos capture. I said Id interrogate you myself in hopes that they would leave you alone. he sighed then, his mind returning to his meeting with Captain Taylor just before he had found Duo trussed up in his bed. I can only guess that Taylor thought to find favor with me by give me a gift. That would be me. Duo sighed before pulling away completely and standing from the sofa. Treize though was not about to lose the closeness he had reestablished with the teen and the man immediately clamped onto the longhaired boys wrist, stopping him from walking away. Its ok. Duo smiled at him. I just need to think. Angel, I-- Treize began only to be cut off when the fingers of Duos right hand slipped over his lips. Shh. the teen hushed. Its not like I can go far, right? Closing his eyes in anguish at the boys attempted joke, Treize allowed his hand to release its hold as he felt the teen move away. When he opened then a short time later, he was once again alone in the room. ************************* Colonel Une marched through the nearly deserted hallways of the Kansu Base located in northern China with only one purpose in mind. And upon seeing the head of platinum hair rounding the corner in front of her, she quickened her step even more. Lightening Count. she called to him as he approached, only sparing a moment to nod to the two officers passing them in the hall before turning her attention back to his masked face. May I speak with you for a moment? Of course, Colonel. the mans deep voice intoned. In private. she insisted, giving her glasses a push at the bridge to slip them back up into proper position. Of course. he repeated before signaling for her to precede him down the hall. By this point, her anxiety over the news she had just received had her nearly shaking in her shoes, but on the outside, she maintained her image of calm and cool quite well as she led them down the hallway and to her temporary office. It was a room she chose specifically for its location, which was far away from the other offices, and because it was actually part of a much older building that had been built of concrete. The walls of the office were much thicker than the rest of the building it was situated in, lending a greater amount of privacy. And given the nature of the business she had with the Lightening Count, aka Zechs Marquise, she needed all the privacy she could get. As soon as the door was closed securely behind them, she whirled on the man and demanded, Did you know that hed been captured? Zechs weighed his answer carefully as he watched the normally collected woman begin to pace the room in agitation. Finally, knowing he could never conceal anything from her that she would not find out about eventually, he confessed, Yes, I knew about it right after the attack. At first, I was told he was dead but then the report came back that he was alive, but injured. And the move to the Mountain Base? Did his Excellency contact you about that? No. Zechs admitted with a sigh before slipping the mask from his head and laying it on the table nearby. I havent spoken to Treize since just after his and Duos last meeting. What would possess him to have the boy taken there? Une demanded of no one in particular. She was still busy pacing the room as she tried desperately to calm her agitation and anger. He knows Duo will never be able to leave there. Not alive at least. Im sure Treize has his reasons. the platinum-haired man stated before placing himself in her path and grasping her shoulders. Lady, please. You will not do either of them any good if you work yourself up into a heart attack. Guiding her across the room, he pushed her down into the chair behind her desk before walking around to the other side and taking one of the two situated there. Sitting back, he braced his elbows on the chair arms and steepled his fingers in front of himself as he considered the woman across from him. On the outside, Colonel Anna Une was the picture of cold objectivity, controlling those OZ forces under her command with an iron fist, while maintaining a loyalty and fidelity to Treize than none could match. On the inside though, she was every bit the woman; soft, giving, and caring. And it was that side of her that took one look at a pair of big, violet eyes and fell instantly in love. With all his claims to be the god of death, Duo was still very much a seventeen-year-old boy and Unes unused maternal instincts had not been able to resist. Youre going there arent you? he asked, although he already knew the answer. This base is nearly cleared. she answered as she picked up one of the stacks of papers lying on the desk, shuffling through it quickly, before pulling out the one paper she needed. Only one more convoy will be needed to take the last of the supplies. she confirmed before laying the paper back down and looking straight into his blue eyes. Once the convoy leaves day after tomorrow, Ill be on the first transport to the base. Nodding his head in approval, Zechs allowed his hands to fall into his lap as he chewed carefully on his lower lip. You havent told him, have you? she asked softly and while it was not an accusation by any means, it still brought up his ire. And what would you have me tell him? That one of his best friends, who he believes is dead by the way, is being held captive in an impenetrable OZ base? By his lover no less? Zechs-- Throwing up his hand to forestall any further comment, the blue-eyed man pulled himself up from his seat and stalked across the room to retrieve his mask. As he was slipping it over his head though, he could not help but hear her soft reply, Hed be better off hearing it from you than from some random soldier with a score to settle. Without looking at the woman, Zechs walked over to the door, pulled it open, and walked out. He knew far better than she did what would happen once the other pilots found out that Duo was alive; the four of them would stop at nothing to return the longhaired teen to them. And no matter how selfish it was of him, that was one risk he just could not take. ~ * ~ Chapter 4
